Chimney Flashing Repair and Installation

Our process for chimney flashing repair and installation begins by laying down a layer of GAF WeatherWatch ice and water shield up the sides of the chimney and under the shingle strips. Then we install a new step flashing at the bottom (low point) of the chimney. Along the sides of the chimney we install new step chimney flashing between each shingle course. Over the step flashing we install aluminum counter flashing, the counter flashing is designed to cover the top of the step flashing to keep it water tight.

Finally we seal the joint between the counter sheet metal and the brick chimney with tri-polymer sealant. These flashing details exceed industry standards so that the chimney/roof connection (a typical problem area) remains watertight for the life of the roof.

If your chimney flashing has deteriorated from weather, corrosion, or it’s missing; then it’s time to have it checked to prevent any compromises to your roofing system.
