I can not say enough good things about this company. Chad Hockett went above and beyond for us every step of the way. We had hail damage and our insurance company was extremely hard to work with. Chad showed up multiple times on his own time outside of work and took photos and met with inspectors on multiple occasions until we got everything settled. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and just all around helped us out tremendously. The crew showed up early Monday morning tore off our old roof and had a brand new roof on by the evening. The crew was awesome. Super nice bunch of guys. They did a fabulous job on clean up and were very thorough. We will be using Ridge Top in the future for siding and all other exterior needs and I 100% recommend them!

I selected Ridge Top Exteriors to replace the siding on my house with James Hardy primed-for-paint fiber cement boards and I am very happy with the final product. The price to do fiber cement siding is a bit mind blowing if you're not familiar with construction costs (which I wasn't), and Ridge Top's bid was in the middle of the four contractors I researched and received quotes from. From the beginning of the project to the end, I had a great customer experience. Chris Pearce, the primary project manager, was fantastic - he answered the many (many, many, many) questions I had prior to the sale and followed through with consistent communication throughout the project. When I reached out to him during the project, he always responded promptly, even when I had a question after the project was completed and signed off. The crew was very nice and polite and kept to the project timeline, with a slight delay due to Hurricane Ian. They were at my house promptly by 8 AM each morning and worked through 5 PM (sometimes later). I work from home and watched as they did the demo and install - they did everything just as described during the sales process, so there were no unexpected surprises. They left my property as they found it, nice and clean. The project expediter, Efrain, kept me updated on the project milestones and regularly checked up on the progress. Overall, I felt like I was in good hands with Ridge Top and would be happy to do business with them again.

Project was to replace the existing asphalt roof. Crew arrived on time. Started to rip the old roof off and found 4 layers of old shingles up there. This caused extra time for the removal. Cleaned up debris and laid new roof. What should have been one day job for 7 guys took two whole days to complete. The guys were amazing and worked pretty much non-stop for the 19 hours spent. Happy with the finished product. There were a few small issues that Ridgetop took care of without complaint or extra charges. I would recommend these guys to anyone.

After substantial hail damage, Ridge Top Exteriors replaced our roof, siding, gutters, and facia. We also elected to replace the windows at that time. The installation was professionally done and of recent quality. The crew foremen maintained great communication and any issues were quickly rectified. Would definitely refer them to friends and neighbors

About RoofCare+
Materials

Roofing Materials We Install in Madison

In Madison you have two paths: GAF asphalt shingles, which is what most homeowners here choose, or standing seam metal for a longer-term upgrade. We will show you both and help you compare cost, look, and how long each one should last. Asphalt shingles are the most common roof in Dane County, and for good reason. They handle Wisconsin weather well, come in a wide range of colors, and fit most budgets. Pick a few favorites below, then ask your project manager for physical samples. Color reads differently in real sunlight than it does on a screen.

Long-term option

Standing Seam Metal Roofing

Standing seam metal is available in Madison for homeowners who want a longer-term roof with a clean, modern look. Vertical panels and hidden fasteners mean fewer exposed penetrations across the main roof surface, and the smooth surface helps shed snow and ice. It costs more up front than asphalt, so it tends to fit people planning to stay put.

What Wisconsin Weather Does to a Madison Roof

A roof in Dane County works harder than most. Between summer hail and winter ice, your roof takes a beating in both directions, and the damage usually shows up in the same handful of places.

Close-up of a white-framed window with broken upper glass, showing jagged cracks and missing pieces at the bottom, next to a closed dark brown window shutter on a brick house.

Hail

Hail bruises shingles and knocks granules loose. You often can't see it from the ground, but it shortens the life of the roof.

Ice Dams

Snow melts, refreezes at the eaves, and backs water up under the shingles. Poor attic ventilation makes it worse.

Freeze and Thaw

Repeated freezing and thawing works on sealant, flashing, and any spot where water already gets in.

High Wind

Wind lifts shingle edges and breaks the seal between rows. Once that seal is gone, the next storm does more damage.

Repair or Replace: How to Tell What Your Roof Needs

A Repair May Be Enough

The roof is under 15 years old
Damage is in one area, like a valley or around a chimney
A few shingles are missing after a storm
The leak traces back to flashing, not the shingles
The rest of the roof still looks sound

It May Be Time to Replace

The roof is 20 years old or more
Shingles are curling, cracking, or losing granules across the roof
You have repaired the same roof more than once
There are soft spots or sagging areas in the deck
Multiple leaks, or stains showing up in more than one room
Still not sure? That is what the free inspection is for. We will look, show you photos of what we found, and tell you honestly which way to go.

Storm Damage

Storm Damage Inspections in Madison, WI

After a hailstorm or a windy night, the hard part is knowing whether anything actually happened up there. A lot of storm damage is invisible from the driveway and only shows up later as a leak. Our team inspects the roof, photographs what we find, and explains what it means. If you decide to file a claim, we can document the damage and work alongside your insurance process.

What a Roof Replacement Costs in Madison

$12,000-$22,500

for a typical Madison home of about 2,500 sq. ft.

Your number depends on roof size, pitch, complexity, and what we find once the old roof comes off. Steeper roofs, extra layers to tear off, and deck repairs all move the price. We lock your quote after an on-site inspection, so the number you sign is the number you pay.

Roofing Questions, Answered

FAQ
How much does a new roof cost in Madison?

Most Madison roof replacements land in the $12,000 to $22,500 range for a typical home. Size, pitch, complexity, and what we find during tear-off all move the number. Our Madison pricing page breaks it down by package.

What roofing materials does Ridge Top install in Madison?

Two options here: GAF asphalt shingles and standing seam metal roofing. Asphalt is what most Dane County homeowners choose. Standing seam is the longer-term upgrade.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most roofs are done in 1 to 2 days once we start. Extra shingle layers, skylights, steep pitches, deck repairs, and weather can add time. We will tell you what to expect before the crew shows up.

Do I need to be home during the install?

Not the whole time. We do ask that you or someone you trust be around the first morning so the crew can walk the plan with you. After that, your project manager keeps you posted.

How long does a roof last in Wisconsin?

An asphalt shingle roof here generally runs 20 to 25 years, though that swings based on installation quality, attic ventilation, storm exposure, and maintenance. Metal lasts longer.

Do you repair roofs, or only replace them?

Both. If a repair will actually solve the problem, we will tell you that. We would rather fix a $600 problem now and earn the replacement later.

How do I know if I have hail damage?

Usually you cannot tell from the ground, which is the tricky part. Hail bruises shingles and knocks granules loose in ways that are hard to see but shorten the roof's life. We will inspect and show you photos of whatever we find.

Will my insurance cover a new roof?

That is your insurance carrier's call, not ours. What we can do is inspect, document the damage with photos, and work alongside your claim process. We will not promise you an approval.

Are estimates free?

Yes. The inspection and the written estimate are free, and there is no obligation to move forward.

What warranty comes with a Ridge Top roof?

We are a GAF Master Elite contractor, so qualifying systems can be eligible for GAF's Golden Pledge Limited Warranty. Actual coverage depends on the exact system and registration, and your project manager will go over the written terms with you.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, with multiple options. Terms and approval depend on the plan and your application. Details are on our financing page.

Do you install metal roofing in other Ridge Top markets?

Standing seam metal is available in Madison and Milwaukee. In Clearwater, FL we install GAF TimberSteel metal roof shingles. Our other Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa markets are asphalt shingle roofing.
